i take 4 weeks half paid but im in the midlands and we are cheap compared to lots of areas

shiningstar · 04/09/2006 20:03

i am amazed you all get this!! i charge 50% when parents are on holiday, no charge when i am away as they have to find alternate care and then if our holidays happen to coincide i get 50% still. I asked if this is the norm aroud here and people said yes!!

StrawberryMoon · 04/09/2006 20:10

Bank hols- £full fees
Christmas Eve to New Years Day - £1/2 fees
4 days at Easter - £1/2 fees
parents holiday/days off - full fees
childminder closed for holiday or personal days - £no charge

tissy · 04/09/2006 20:37

my CM charges full fee for our hols, no charge for hers (6 weeks a year), and 50% if we happen to coincide. She does not officially work Bank Holidays, but may be available at double time if asked!

I think this is reasonable, as her holiday in october includes half term week, and as I have to work, dd will have to go to the school holiday club.

shiningstar · 04/09/2006 20:42

i dont charge for bank holidays either as i see that as a day i dont want to work! if they want me to work i charge time and a half. i feel like i am being very generous now!!

StrawberryMoon · 05/09/2006 19:47

so if i put two weeks at 1/2 rate for me (then try and make them when parents off to and maybe get full rate??)

I take four weeks at half pay, parents holiday at full pay.

My reasons for this being, parents get paid holiday why shouldn't I??? I know we're self employed but CMs are a special type of self employed as it is.

I also believe in parents holiday being at full pay as you never know how many weeks they will book off....

Iceorlemon · 05/09/2006 21:35

Im in midlands Itake 6 weeks(which covers x-mas,easter 2 wks aug and oct ) a year but dont charge.Do charge for parents if outside mine.Do charge full for bank hols and inset days childs absence. I dont think I know more than a couple of cm's here who take paid hols and thats coz their parents have insisted.!

StrawberryMoon · 15/09/2006 19:11

ive put 2 wks @ 1/2 pay and first mindee's mum signed on dotted line
