I am employing a nanny from sept. and saw advice on here (from nannynick I think) to use payefornannies who seem to do all that I need. I can see where I sign up to pay but what happens then..do they contact me to ask about salary/personal details etc and each month do I tell them if there is sick pay/overtime or whatever to calculate? Also, anyone used this company, are they good? Another question...I am employing termtime only....I know holiday entitlement is 5.6 weeks for full time and the law seems wishwashy on termtime holidays..does anyone else employ on this basis and if so, how much holiday do you pay...I think I have calculated entitlement to be about 4.5 weeks so was going to offer 5 (ie. a 40 week contract but paid for 45 weeks and split over 12 equal months)...the nanny seems happy but it is her first job and I want to be fair.

I use them, there is a set amount of hours per month and I let them know if any more or less. They sorted out the SSP when my nanny had time off sick. They are very helpful and they'll advise you about the leave. I would imagine that you take the total number of days she will work in a year, divide by 52 to give a notional days per week then that number x 5.6 is the days of holiday. But they will advise you.

Fantastic, thanks for the info dietcokefan! Of course, that would work for holiday entitlement calculation..didnt think of that!

12.07% of working time may be used. Talk to payroll company and see what they advise.

Be careful splitting salary over a year. If someone leaves part way through a year they will owe you or you will owe them. Keep detailed note of the days and hours actually worked.

ah yes, good point, I shall look at that and build something accordingly into contract. Thanks
