Hi everyone, I am new to mums et and wondered if I could get some help. I am a new mom to John my 2 month old and am looking for a childminder in Raynes park. I have had a look at a few nurseries as well but want to look into a childminder and see which is better. Help is appreciated !! Thanks !!

Contact your local children's centre for a list of local childminders.

Visit as many nurseries/childminders as you can to find what is right for your child. Find out what activities/outings/etc. they do. Also, be aware that nurseries have higher ratios than childminders, so for a child as young as yours, a childminder is probably the way to go.

Thanks for the advice and help. I will only be going back to work in October so don't need one just yet. But want to make the right decision.
So tough - but sure I will find someone great. Thinking nursery 2 days and childminder 2 days to get the best of both worlds.

The council website has a list of child minders in your area. The availability is not up to date so call any that are local to you. Also there are notices up in Sinbads which is near you. I can highly recommend Dicky Birds nursery and there is a new one in RP. I've not heard many positives about Teddies nursery but worth a visit. Also there is Dees nursery which has a nice homely feel. I looked into CM and Nursery and for us nursery came out on top. Be aware that you need to go on waiting lists so now is a great time to start thinking about childcare. Good luck and congratulations on your little man x

I can see why you want the 2 days at each but consistency can be better when they're little. A straight four days with a cm will be more settled. That's what my ds1 had and he was v settled. Ds2 did the half and half you're suggesting and there was always trouble with the switch. We ended up changing to just one cm for him and he was instantly happier, like he needed to know where he was going each day and obviously had no concept of the different days.

I second the cosistancy message.

Two days of each will just confuse your baby - better for them to bond with one person. Especially when they're so little (he'll only be six months, won't he?) they are only actually able to bond with five people in their lives total. I'd incline to a childminder for such a small baby.
