my childminder is a goddess

I just wanted to say that my childminder is the most wonderful woman ever. She had DS from 11mo to 3.5 yo, 8-4:30 five days a week. DS is an only child and I am a high school teacher whose DH works away most weeks. We have no family in this country and through this marvelous creature DS has acquired extended family, "cousins" and a Nana and Grandpa.
She still has him 3:30 to 4:30 after his Kindy sessions, he is nearly 4 now.
Today he was sick and Kindy needed him to go home. Grandpa had him until wonder woman could take him...which meant that the high school kids got taught, my colleagues didn't get asked to cover me at last minute, and DS still was loved.

If you are a good CM you are not just a business relationship. You are what makes my life possible and my child feel loved and secure.

What a lovely post!
my little ones are loved like family, my husband is Uncle Michael or occasionally Pappi as I also look after my grandson and that's what he calls My dh.
My 82 Year old parents are also well known to the minded kiddies and are loved greatly.
I offer cuddles and kisses freely and welcome these families into my home.
a I'm blessed with lovely parents who appreciate what I do.
I count myself lucky to havea job I love x

Aw, that is so lovely. I also have a wonderful childminder whose kids ask regularly if DS (just turned 2) can be their brother.

Theincidental · 29/05/2014 11:30

I feel the same about my childminder. She's fantastic and so are her kids. We're both single mums so she totally understands and is so kind and helpful.

Where's the like button :)

AMI88 · 29/05/2014 16:43

Love this post! ??

Thurlow · 29/05/2014 16:43

After all the crap CMs can get on here, that's so nice to see. Mine is also an angel, takes DD at the last minute when DP's work throw something at him, keeps her for 10-11 hours a day when emergencies happen or the trains break. We couldn't manage without her.

almaradlu · 29/05/2014 20:26

Fab post -its so lovely to read positive posts Smile

RandomMess · 29/05/2014 20:31

My CM was wonderful too, she just loves children and deals with them with such love, kindness and fun she is amazing x

MJP1 · 29/05/2014 20:31

Aw that's so nice xx

FlossieTreadlight · 29/05/2014 20:33

My CM is also a total star. Dd loves going there, learns loads and is a part of the family. So reassuring when not working isn't an option.

MadScientistsRuleTheAsylum · 29/05/2014 20:35

Mine is amazing. Loves my kids, brings out the best in them and makes our lives better just by bein a fantastic person.

bamboostalks · 29/05/2014 20:38

Mine has been in my life for 7 years now and has never been sick or cancelled once. She's amazing and a dear friend. A life enhancer.

Littlefish · 29/05/2014 20:45

Dd was with a childminder from 1 to 4.5 years old. She was absolutely wonderful!

marriednotdead · 29/05/2014 21:14

What a lovely thread Smile

My DS is 17 now but was with his childminder from 2.5 until he started secondary school. She is still very much regarded as his 'other mum' and has given him experiences that I would never have had the time or imagination to, in every kind of weather.

I attribute his brilliance and patience with little ones to watching and learning from the woman we jokingly called the baby whisperer. The fact that he wasn't diagnosed as being on the autistic spectrum until aged 12 makes her nurturing of him and his quirks even more special to me Smile

littlegreengloworm · 29/05/2014 21:18

I love our cm with all my heart. I go to work happy and relaxed. He is content and very well looked after, like one of the family.

Athrawes · 30/05/2014 02:56

I just hope the CMs who feel taken for granted, and the parents who treat their CMs as a business relationship read this. The CMs are caring for our most precious, often hard gotten, "possessions".

Lovely post and yes a cm is an extended family :)

SweepTheHalls · 30/05/2014 09:55

Mine rocks, but I just need to say to her don't move too far! If it's not walking distance to the boys school then everything falls apart please stay local

anewyear · 30/05/2014 14:25

From a Childminder:
Thank you for the positive validation (if that's the correct word) it means a lot.
