Nanny diary/development tracking

Do you keep track of the children's development?

Are you allowed to take photographs of the children? Do you use your employers' camera? How do they print them for your use in development tracker books/files?

I write a diary of what we have done each day & put in anything new that the girls have done. I don't do a development tracker as such.

With photos I used to use an old digital camera but found I kept forgetting it on outings, so now I take pictures on my phone & email them to parents (from phone) then delete them. I occasionally print them at the booths in Boots for putting in cards etc.

I have a daily diary that I fill in with his day to day things, food, naps, poos, outings and I have a space to fill in new things he has learnt. Today it was throwing his toys out of the back door and then sobbing until I went to fetch them for him, he's 8 months old and on day three of commando crawling!

I do take photos, I use my 'fancy' DSLR or mobile. I e-mail or whatsapp them to my employers and grandparents and also print them off to staple to the relevant page in the diary. They have a wireless printer that I can use but I also have a photo printer of my own.

I do have a signed and dated permission to take photos slip which also states that I am not allowed to upload the photos to the internet unless with their express permission.

I am in a position with 1 baby so yes I do track her development; I have an old eyfs and just tick off progress as it happens.

I write a diary that tells mb/db what she ate/nappies/milk and then a paragraph about what we did today.

I take photos of baby and whatsapp them to the parents or email them - if baby tries something new or if its a cute photo. I also email.

In past jobs I had lots of photos which I made into a photo book. Not sure what I'll do in this job.

My nanny doesn't do one and I dont want her to! I just want the kids to be well looked after.

My nanny does a diary but it just says what activity they did in the morning and afternoon and length of naps.

She sends me photos by email from her phone, most days - works well for me as I can look at them at work.

Development wise, she tells me anything new/cute that DD has started to do at the end of the day. Doesn't write it down.

Personally I wouldn't ask her to spend time printing and stapling photos or writing down development - there's little enough free time in her day with a (demanding and nap resistant) toddler and she's got DD's cooking/laundry/tidying up to do in that time.

jackyaaa how horrible. What an intrusion. I wonder why your teens always lied to you? Pushed the limited and did just what you told them not to??????

You know really maybe your should have spent the time with them instead of finding a way of spying on them.!!!

I do a daily diary: a quick overview of the day, sleeps, eating, activitys etc.

Crowen85 · 15/07/2014 22:06

Oh yeah and I send daily photos.

I nanny twin girls aged 15 month and have been asked to put together a full development plan. It was very daunting at first as I've never been asked to do anything of that nature before but have worked it out now and also carry out 'observations' each month and keep them in their files.

I also do a daily diary, whatsapp any pictures to the parents.
I have so many gorgeous pictures of the kids that I'm considering making a photo album of all my pictures and giving it to them as a leaving present when I eventually leave!

I sometimes email/whatsapp cute photos to my bosses during the day - but have been given a usb stick so that I can share all my photos with my bosses.

I have also always taken photos of the twin girls I look after and their brother,I then just email them off to my bosses and have also used in cards at Christmas for Grandparents. That reminds me to send off this weeks gymnastics award ceremony.
