Au pairs and driving

Wondering if anyone with an au pair that drives can give me some idea of insurance costs? Is there an age that is better for getting insurance (i.e. will cost less if they are over 22 or something?)

I used to go for over 25's for the insurance thing but found with my last it made no difference. A Spanish girl who was 25 driving for a year cost me about £400 less than a French 30 year old driving for 7 years ! Go on one of the compare sites

We've found over 22 makes the biggest difference. EU is cheaper than Australia (despite same side of the road and language)!

Good luck - we have to have a driver and I'm finding it really hard to find one.

Bumping in case someone could provide us the cost of insurance.
How is it done? Only by adding an extra driver to the policy? Or the whole new policy required?
I am starting to look for an aupair and my au pair would not have to drive the kids but could use a car in their leisure time.

I just did the named driver it came up cheaper ! My. Spanish girl was an extra £50 a year where as the French older girl was an extra few hundred

Thanks for the info. Au pairs seem like a cost effective form of childcare until you add on all these extras! Think it is still working out cheaper than a childminder though (including holidays too!!).
