if you lived in a village/town with school nearby and good public transport, what reason would there be to demand a nanny who can drive?

so she can take children on outings to places not within walking distance for eg. the zoo, sea life centre, swimming etc? im not a nanny so i dont know if these are good reasons.

Day trips out off the public transport route? Transporting the little one if they're poorly? Shopping? I dunno, that's all I can think of.

I live outside of London. My nanny doesn't drive. She takes my one and three year olds everywhere on public transport, including school 5 days a week come October.

Some people like drivers, some aren't bothered, and some don't want their children driven around. I don't really care myself, but prefer not to incur the cost if avaoidable. And, as it happens, my nanny prefers to take the bus, so we are both happy.

Taking on further-flung trips and transport in case of emergency, I'd think. Personally (although we use a nursery so it's an academic question) I'd see a nanny who could drive as a plus but it wouldn't be something I'd demand and it would come behind many other considerations.
