Aupair vs nanny vs after school help

Would love your advice. I have three children aged 4-7 and am a stay at home very involved mum. I need help with school drop off, activities etc.we have had German aupairs a as I like them to speak with them in German (I am originally from there). I am getting increasingly frustrated as I find many aupairs just don't appreciate that they need to be a little flexible, not moody etc. they say they can cook and they arrive and can't boil an egg...we are a nice, normal family but I don't have the energy to hand hold our aupair or teach them basic cooking skills anymore. I don't want to have to mother them. Are my expectations too high? Is the answer a nanny or after school help? I am just so frustrated by how young and insecure they can be and dishonest about their abilities. We have tried so hard to include our current aupair but 8 months later I am no further! Any advice?

I know exactly what you mean!
Perhaps a Mothers Help?

Ours have been pretty competent overall. Do you think that there is any chance, if this is happening consistently, that they're struggling to find their way with you there overseeing? Ours used to work alongside a nanny and one in particular used to let her take the lead on everything which came across as laziness. On her yen she was able to crack on though. You may be able to screen for better cooking skills.

I second the mother's help situation, or an AP with some experience!
