Hi
I'm thinking ahead a couple of years about when little one goes to school. What happens when both parents start work before school does? I know there are breakfast clubs etc but often they don't start early enough. Do people just get childminders to drop the children off?

Childminders, parents negotiate flexible hours so Mum starts early and does pick up, Dad drops off and starts late. Breakfast clubs, walking buses and a variety of other such clubs.

Only if you're lucky enough to get a school with breakfast clubs or that childminders drop off too! Unfortunately ours has neither.

As lonecat said.

Dont forget to factor in school holidays too.

We are both teachers so flexible working is not possible

Then childminder or breakfast club.

Sorry, hit post!

You'll probably be able to find a childminder who offers tto contracts if you're lucky.

Will you be able to collect at the end of school day/after school club. If not maybe a before and after school nanny will work for you. They could do a full day a week in the hols so you have time to get stuff done and then they would earn the same roughly all year or if they have their own child may like holidays off to spend time with them. If really lucky may find a nanny at the same school with own child who will drop both children off and pick up at the same time and then have holidays off.

Childminder, breakfast/after school clubs (if your choice of school has this), after/before school nanny, nanny share, sharing before and after school care with other families, roping in family members.
