You will be able to claim money back (although I think their is an upper limit to how much so you may not get it all back), I claimed mine back at the same time as my first aid course fee when I started and I don't things have changed too much since then (2 years ago now).

Thanks for that, who will I claim it back from?

Are you in touch with your local CIS (they might run the "Do you want to be a childminder?" course??

They should help

ThePrisoner · 27/08/2006 17:56

As far as I know, different areas have different rules as to what you can or can't claim back.

If you do have to pay this yourself, don't forget to add it to your list of expenses for when you have to do your tax return!

StrawberryMoon · 28/08/2006 21:19

i paid £34 2 weeks ago and my loverly CIS sent me a cheque for that amount this morning!!

get in touch, they could have alsorts they can help you with!(ive got free first aid bos, insurnace and ncma membership from mine)

Oh my goodness, that is really fab. I have been told there is no funding for help with anything in my area. I am so angry with my doctors as they are not flexible on this figure and will not let me pay in installments either. I do not have the £75 as only one income now I have not gone back to work!!!

Katymac · 28/08/2006 22:19

If there isn't funding in your area - there is a possibility that there are enough Childminders

Often the funding is connected to perceived need - so there may be lots of local C/Mers

cerysmum · 28/08/2006 22:21

That is a thought, might do some more research. I was only wanting to take one extra child though as have two of my own.

StrawberryMoon · 28/08/2006 22:31

sorry, didnt preview..i paid £74 not £34

StrawberryMoon · 28/08/2006 22:32

how old are you?..you could get help from the princes trust(up to 31 years) or business link?

cerysmum · 29/08/2006 07:57

Great, I am 33

looneytune · 29/08/2006 08:01

Have you been on childcare link to see if there are lots of minders in your area? here

Our local CIS do give funding and I got more because my village was classed as a 'deprived area' (as in short of childminders). As Katymac says, they may not offer funding because there's lots of childminders already? I hope for your sake this is not the case but it really is best to find out before throwing lots of money into it.

Good luck

StrawberryMoon · 29/08/2006 08:24

i have a list of possible grant/finance support if you would like me to email them to you?
there not just for this area as most are national companies

cerysmum · 29/08/2006 08:50

That would be great, should I just give you my email address on the message?

cerysmum · 29/08/2006 08:51

thanks looneytunes, I am going to get in contact with CIS

looneytune · 29/08/2006 09:50

Presume you have the number but in case you don't, it should be on the web link I gave as this is a national feed from all local CIS groups.

Good luck

StrawberryMoon · 29/08/2006 12:37

StrawberryMoon · 15/09/2006 19:15

ok, my list seems to be my area orientated, but we have business link - they introduced me to walker hall who basically do all the running around for grants etc..very good so far..they actually contact anyone with funds and see how much they can get!

then shaw trust, they give £200 grant if your getting back into work after 6months or more out of work

then pertemps..temping agency who also look through companies wanting to help you set up

and university (of teesside for me), they have 'women in business' ideas and funds available.

sorry i couldnt give you numbers but they wouldnt apply to you..try ringing your local surestart/c.i.s business advisor and ask them for a list.ht sorry been so long

btw i aslo got my £74 back from c.i.s..might have already sadi this?

zoeuk1 · 15/09/2006 19:30
