Hi, im not new, been here since daughter was born 11 years ago but cant access od email/account info (I was various strawberry themed names and evesmama)
I've been a cm for 8 years, when I first started I was in a relationship, 4 years ago that ended and I now live here with my daughter.

Ive recently been told that when its time for me to retire, if im still doing this I am probably not entitled to a state pension? is this correct?
and if so how do I change that? ie: can I pay more/ different N.I?
I'm also interested to find out what type of pensions are advised for others in this industry as being on my own im going to have to make sure im covered.

Also, are there any others in similar situation (single with own children/mortgage etc) who can advise what you have in place incase you are ill/unable to work due to illness for longer periods of time?

I know there used to be a gentleman who I think was a financial advisor/accountant on here who used to help us out, if he or anyone else can answer any of these questions id be really grateful :)

Did you register as self employed and pay tax/NI on your CM earnings or do it all cash in hand and not declare it?

I would contact DWP and get a pension forecast. I think I did it entirely online. That will give you a starting point as will identify if you have made sufficient contributions to date, I think.

Personal pension I expect is an option.

Paying additional NI may be an option but I don't know at what stage you can do that.
