I am looking for a nanny (live out, part time) but I don't really know where to begin! My dc are currently in nursery but dc1 starting school this sept. Would need someone to take him to school 2 days a week and collect him, and look after younger dc (1.5y). I have looked at childminders in the area but they are all so busy with lots of children- fair enough if a little overwhelming for dc1 who only turns 4 in aug but I feel dc2 would be lost in that environment, constant school/nursery/playgroup runs.

So what do I do? Have asked around locally and no one seems to know any one suitable or available- there are lots of websites- do I just take the plunge? How can I know they are to be trusted- references I suppose, but so much easier when someone you know is doing the recommending!!

It is just a bit daunting when you don't know where to start. Any ideas on good, reliable websites where to start looking? Thanks

Start with creating a detailed budget. Think of all the costs involved. Once you have done that figure out the total working hours per year and holiday pay.
Then from that you will establish the salary you can offer someone, aiming to offer less initially so you have room for a payrise later.

Create a job description, list of things you expect nanny to do.

Then you can advertise, look at local places, websites with local childcare listings, also national nanny job listing sites like nannyjob.co.uk
