nanny costs for 2 children

Apologies in advance if this is a stupid question. We had a nanny just for our DS at £10/hour net, and are currently doing a nanny share with a child from another family, so that was £12/hour net, but I'm having no.2 and we'll just have the nanny for our two (no share) when I go back to work. I have no idea whether you pay a nanny more for a share by two families, or whether you have to pay the same for two children, whether they are from one family or two. Obvs this makes a huge difference to what we can afford. All thoughts gratefully received! (central London prices by the way).

No idea what you pay for nanny shares but I'm in N London and I pay £10/hour net, if that helps. Nanny prices don't change with number of children.

Thanks so much slowcomputer, that is really helpful. Just wanted to know my facts before starting the conversation with my nanny...

The bump for the share is to reflect the difficulty of negotiating 2 families rather than the difficulty of dealing with 2 children so dropping back to your original salary would be the norm. Is there any reason you don't want to keep the share going?

You don't generally pay more per child with a nanny. 10ph net is standard for a one family job in London. However, if you want to keep the same nanny you may have to compromise, she may not be keen to take a 2ph pay cut, when she'll be looking after the same number of children.

Hi, I looked after 2 children with my last family and was on £12 per hour net. I'm in bucks.
