As it was becoming a bit of a daily entry,I thought i would give it an appropriate heading for those embarking on appointing an au pair. Hope its helpful.

Oh and the behaviour of ds is just terrible. He has always been headstrong but things are not improving since the beginning of the week.

I just wonder if he doesnt take to her although he wont say. She seems pleasant enough.

Frankly I am worn out with it mainly because of ds reaction, he spends more time in the naughty room than out, dont do alot for me old back though.

After reading all the entries re rule etc i did put together a typical time table of things i would expect fron the AP along with a few house rules eg no smoking, no overnight visitors no mass murder that type of thing. Turns out shes a teetotal non smoking evangelical christian not entirely sure what she will make of my strong relationship with mr Pinot Grigio!

Yep? like this thread it so familiar, since I will be embarking on a settling a new Au pair very soon ..I hope?

I am meeting the "potential one" on our way to Cornwall on holiday tues so will post an update when I return. I do hope she is as nice in the flesh as we need her to start at the end of the month and I can't face trolling through hundreds of applicants who "love children and when I am with them i become one of them!!!!"
I think the next thing I need to sort is where the local AP mafia hang out ( Horsham) so that I will be able to encourage her to get out and meet people. Anyone know?

tenalady · 07/08/2006 15:54

Yeah not managed to secure an ap mafia as yet, I have approached local language colleges but nothing as yet.

I am sending her with ds to French cookery class 3rd week in august so at least she can converse with the teacher there.

Its been a good day today, we all went swimming and she took him in the pool while I watched then he had his swimming lesson.

We then met up at a large ball park with friend for a couple of hours, bit tiring for her as having to keep up with our clucking

Have to say that not much house work done today as we were out all morning.

I guess the way to get around that is to organise outings in the afternoon and ask if she wants to join us thus leaving her free to clean in the morning.

Oh yes, I let her drive today, gulp. Actually she was good, a bit too near to the kerb at times but all the same a couple more outings with me by her side and I think she will be comfortable.

Drove again today, only grumble is that she doesnt put handbrake on when on hill, so rolls back when taking off and hardly ever indicates.
I took a precaution today and bought some P plates to stick on the car so that other drivers might be a bit more thoughtful (might save me £350 excess too if there has to be a claim).

6 days here and we actually got down to some housework today, at last, it aint much for her to do but we got there in the end.

Things not too good with ds today, giving her a really hard time, come to think of it its pretty hard for me to.

Tonight she has been quiet and had a couple of texts and a call from boyfriends dad on my phone, mmmm, gone to bed with a headache.

its been great to take the opportunity to tell dh 'see if a 21 year old fit and healthy gal cant cope with our ds, how the bloody hell do you think I can at 45 Didnt get anymore sympathy but he was quiet for a change so maybe he is realising our ds is a little monster and a bit full on.
