Childcare

Nursery versus the cost of a childminder

Please someone help me. I have two children going to nursery full-time. Sadly, this will be 8-6 for a fair few of them.

It is going to cost us £1500 a month.

Is it likely a childminder would cost less?

I don't think so.

Where are you?

What sort of pricese do C/Mers charge around you?

here (Norfolk) 8-6 Mon-Fri would cost £687.50 per child so a little cheaper

DS' nursery costs £4.75 an hour and in this area childminders charge around the £3/£3.50 mark.

DS nursery is also quite cheap for nurseries in this area, I am in SE.

does your (or DH's, or both) employer not have a voucher scheme you could join?

I think round here the going rate for 8-6 is about £600 pcm, and there's a 15% reduction for siblings. Have you looked around different nurseries?

£40 per day. 10% discount for the eldest child.
£750 for one. So infact, it's a little cheaper for two.
I'm in W. Berkshire

Not all childminders would charge for 52 weeks of the year, nurseries sometimes do.
