Looking for evening childcare near stansted -where to start?

Hi I have a friend who is looking for childcare twice a week in the evenings at her house, wouldn't be twice a week every week as husband is a police officer so does shifts.

She only needs up to 4 hrs at a time and has only left the boys with family before but they all leave up north so can't help out regularly.

I have pointed her in the direction of netmums, and colleges near her. Where else can she try as really doesn't want a teenager looking after them as would worry too much and wouldn't want to take the new job.

Thanks

Childcare.co.uk. Plenty of childcare professionals on there. You do have to sign up for a 3 monthly membership which i think is £15 but so do all the childcarers so you know that everyone is serious about finding care/jobs xx

Findababysitter.com

Care.com

All listing sites have various charges to contact people, many will let you search for free.

Consider what is a reasonable salary, it is not many hours but start and finish times may not be that attractive depending on what they are. Many people will have a day job so the hours need to fit with what they can do.
Depending on your friends job, the childcarers pay may me more than she gets paid.

She may need to find several people as it may be tricky for one person to commit to all that she needs, especially if she will not guarantee there is work every week. Someone self employed will do it on an ah-hoc, as and when they choose to work basis. If your friend wants someone permanently, then they need to make the person their employee which will mean doing payroll, employers NI, contact a nanny payroll company for info and admin costs.

You might want to post on the local pages local.mumsnet.com/Talk/suffolk/local-active

Yes, try Mumsnet Suffolk or Cambridgeshire. They will tweet your requests too - unlike others Wink

Gum tree is also another place to look

May be just as easy to register with sitters.co.uk.

They have plenty of vetted people and they make sure that the carer has experience with the age of the children they are looking after.

The do daytime care too, but not in a nanny capacity, so they won't do baths for example. They would generally heat up a dinner you had made and clear away, but wouldn't make something from scratch. They also generally wouldn't do a nursery or school pick up, or take the children out in the car.

But you get someone to read stories, play with the children, get them changed into their pjs etc
