Does an au pair need own bathroom?

Hi all!

Pretty new to this and looking for an au pair for the first time.

We live in a standard 3 bedroomed terrace with only one family bathroom. Is this a problem do you know?

Any tips or helpful comments on the au pair hunt all gratefully welcomed!

Thanks!

No, APs don't "need" their own bathroom. But obviously you'll need to have a workable strategy to deal with the increased number of people using the bathroom in the morning. A rota like in a shared house for example!

I also think you should be upfront and honest about it during the recruitment process. Be prepared to lose potential candidates as a private bathroom is an attractive deal breaker!

I am a nanny and work/live in a 3 bed family home with 1 bathroom.

My boss and I have a routine for using the bathroom and it works she tends to have a morning shower where as I like 1 in the evening, we will check if anyone needs to use the bathroom before we hog it and dc has a bath at the same time each night so its easy to factor in time,

No, but good communications for morning routines are key. She does need her own bedroom, dresser, closet, and access to wifi for her gadgets.

If you have a downstairs loo, you could basically set this up as her bathroom so she just uses the family bathroom for the actual bath/shower bit.
