Seeing as DS1 is only 16 and only has his birth certificate as ID what otehr forms of ID can I use for him?

Why does he need one? I always have one through the organisation, I never have to do it myself. I am just handed a form and give it back and the organisation sends it off and pays the fee.

Saltire · 23/01/2014 07:48

Because he is nearly 16

Do you mean a CRB? That is for working with children or vulnerable adults.

TamerB · 23/01/2014 07:50

He will automatically get a National Insurance number when 16.

Saltire · 23/01/2014 07:51

Yeah they used to be CRB but I think they have changed their name. he will need one as I am a childminder.

Are you a childminder? Had never thought of 16 year olds who are the DC of childminders needing a CRB check but I suppose they would.

TamerB · 23/01/2014 07:55

That explains it- I was trying, and failing, to understand. Ask CAB if in doubt.

JeanSeberg · 23/01/2014 07:57

CRB is now known as DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service).

For additional proof of ID, does he have a passport and a bank account?

Lots of information here:

www.gov.uk/disclosure-barring-service-check/

And their helpline telephone number 0870 909 0811.

Picturesinthefirelight · 23/01/2014 07:58

Birth certificate will be his group 1 ID

Then does he have a bank account at all? There are also done circumstances where a letter from a headteachervwill be accepted.

If he can't produce all the documentation then he'll have to go for fingerprinting.

Saltire · 23/01/2014 08:02

No passport. He does have bank account but not one that has a book or statements.
He got a letter yesterday with his NI number on,would that do?

Ring them, he won't be the first 16 year old in this situation.
