I have two nursery age children. But im die to go back to work so I'll be stuck during holidays and half term.

Do you think I could ask for childcare at these times only.

Also when my ds starts school to ask for school pick up and after school childcare.

So confused who would think going back to work would be so hard.

Quite a few nurseries near to me offer holiday clubs for children & some of the local leisure centres offer play schemes in school holidays for a small fee. It mite be worth looking into. I totally agree going back to work is hard when you have children, good luck!

use a day nursery that is open all year round?

I am a childminder and I do holiday only care and before and after school care/ full time care term time only.

I like the mix of children. I don't ask for retainers and my term time only parents know they can call me to see if I have any spaces during the hols and if I will take the child if I have the space.

My mantra is

If I have a space I have a place...

That sounds great electrical. Pity your not near.

Ds is already in a nursery but im not sure what they do over the holidays I will need to ask, I just assumed they didn't but maybe im wrong.

Feeling the guilt about leaving them already.

I do holiday care for school children, but have no space for holidays only for pre-school children. Someone with a teachers children term time only might have holidays free for a little one.

Lucylouby · 18/01/2014 23:51

I would look after preschool children only in the school holidays if I had a spare place but I wouldn't reserve the place for you for future holidays. If other children wanted a full time place I would offer them the place as financially I need to be working full time. If I had a term time only contract with another family, obviously it would be different and I would be able to fit your child in their space.

However, I would be completely upfront with you at the start of the arrangement what my Terms were so if something else came along for me it wouldn't be a complete shock to you. It would be up to you if you went with me or if you could find someone else who was willing to only work holidays.

Could you not just use a cm full time? Then holidays and school pick ups would be sorted

MrsBucketxx · 19/01/2014 16:51

I may need to when ds goes to school but he is all ready at nursery and I want dd to go too, not sure if a minder would do a nursery pick up like a school one.

Im like electric banana.

I offer tto for my toddlers which means i have spaces in the hols. If they get filled fantastic, if they dont dd and i have fun, either way its a win win situation.
