Mindees leaving my house alone

moogy1a · 09/01/2014 12:11

I have siblings of 10 and 8yo.
Mum wants them to leave my house and walk down the road to meet her ( saves her walking up our very steep hill).
is this OK? Should I get a permission form signed from her? Where does my responsibility end and hers begin ( ie. worst case scenario something happens en route to mum, is that my responsibility or is it like schools and it's out of my hand once they arte out the door)
The walk is about 3 minutes or so with no roads to cross

Is there any legal guidance?
What are your legal obligations?

I don't know. I was hoping someone on here would. Otherwise I might have to 'phone Ofsted

They are your responsibility till parent arrives I'm sorry but she will have to walk up the hill to collect or u walk down the hill to meet

HSMMaCM · 09/01/2014 20:56

I wouldn't do it, because my policies state that responsibility transfers to parents as soon as they arrive.

She doesnt want to walk up a steep hill?
Does she have difficulties with walking or ME or similar?

If not, In my opinion, 3 minutes is along time, any thing could happen, who would be responsible for them in event of an accident and so on.

I also live on a long steep hill, 1 mindee lives at the bottom of it, that to is a good 4 minute walk, I wouldnt allow it personally.

No mobility issues just CBA.
Consensus seems to be not to allow it.
Thanks for your input ladies
