CM Club: Complaints Book???

Can you remind me what the new rule is with this. I have a book that parents can write in but they'd have to ask me for the 'complaints book' as I have nowhere it can just be for them to fill in. What's the requirement?

Erm - they would have to ask me for it as well

Are you ready for your inspection says you need:-
a record of complaints that includes brief details of the complaint, the
National Standard(s) it relates to, how it was dealt with, the outcome of
any investigation including any action(s) taken and whether and when
the parent was notified of the outcome.

I wouldn't give your book to parents - i would use your book for the summary of complaints that you have to make available to other parents; ie this would not contain any confidential information such as child's name. Keep a separate folder for the original complaints/correspondence.

what if u dont have one?

LoveMyGirls · 26/07/2006 18:16

can you jsut have a folder and write complaints on it - what do you need inside?
or has it gotta be all offical looking. personally i think theres far too much paperwork involved, i dont think the parents liike it either. i know things have to be done properly but really if someone isnt happy they prob wont say er excuse me do you have somewhere i can write about you, they will write to ofsted and prob not tell you to give you chance to sort it out because in general ppl are cowards. imo

I have a receipt book

OFSTED said that was fine

I would stand over the parent while they wrote in it

boo70 · 01/08/2006 22:28

I have just had my inspection and ofsted said just as long as you have even a basic note pad that is for both complaints and compliments that would be fine.

ThePrisoner · 01/08/2006 23:56

I use a duplicate book (which I usually use to issue bills) and wrote "Complaints Book" on the front. My network co-ordinator said it was fine. It is, of course, completely empty - and is a complete waste of a book because, as LoveMyGirls says, a parent is hardly going to faff around filling in my stupid book if they have a problem with me! They will either talk to me, complain to Ofsted and/or remove their child (not that they'd dare, of course).

Thanks everyone Looks like I'm ok then - silly rule if you ask me, for the very reasons TP put!
