dd1 has just had her first attack of head lice - found today and shampoo applied this evening and combed.

haven't told cm just yet to forwarn other families but will do but want to know....

will she refuse care to dd1 this week? I can't remember if there was anything specific in the policy I read.

errm i think if you have treated her already then it should be ok for her to go.
if she was going to pass them around she probably would have done so already...plus it is probably where she caught them from in the first place.

not sure if there are any specific rules for these things though.

I know some childminders who won't have children if they have nits but, as you have treated your dd, then it really shouldn't be a problem. (I know some nurseries also send children home if nits are found.)

I don't exclude children who have nits, but do expect parents to treat children asap, and I certainly wouldn't send them home if I found them on a child already with me. Unfortunately, you have to hope that everyone else treats their children as well!

Why would you think that a child caught nits at the childminders rather than anywhere else?

zoeuk1 · 17/07/2006 14:33

i was wondering the same thing babydales! my children have both had nits, caught at school.

not really on the subject of cm rufusing or not but they (nits) hate tea tree shampoo and conditioner.

lexiemum · 18/07/2006 07:07

i wasn't saying they were caught at the cm's - just wanted to know if they would be refused care this week.

however, in my case this is most likely to be the source as since found out that it is currently rife in the school class of cms older two mindees and this is the only contact last week that dd had with any children.

pol - thanks for tea tree tip - shall stop off at tesco on my way home from work

Sorry to go off the subject a little but arnt you a little concerned that your dd is not meeting many other children if she only had contact with 2 older mindees in a week. Just an observation.
