So fed up with parents who don't bother to answer messages!

Does anyone else get really annoyed when parents advertise for childcare/babysitting, you send a polite message in reply and they don't bother to acknowledge or respond to it? I know it's my job, but I find this incredibly rude. How long does it take to say thanks but no thanks? If I enquire about some other sort of service and a real person rather than an automated system sends me a reply, I let them know whether I want to proceed/know more, or if I have decided against taking it further. Just having a rant really, not expecting to change the world!

They probably get inundated with messages and don't have time to reply to them all. Don't take it personally!

Yeah, try to see it as applying for a job- youre not always guaranteed a reply. I can see your frustrations though x

I agree with you, it's incredibly rude not to take a few minutes to reply. I get inundated with people wanting to pay me £5 an hour to nanny for them Hmm but I still take the time to reply politely and tell them that no, I will not work for less than Min wage. It's not difficult to take time to reply to people.

I had this one woman ignore me four/five times over the space of 6 weeks, she only wanted somebody for four hours a week 'flexibly' which I could do to a certain extent. She then finally replied to tell me that she wanted X day between 3 and 7. That's not fecking flexible is it?! I advised her to put the timings on her ad so that people would realise.

You are totally right - it is rude - but we had 270 applications in 10 days once so it can be difficult if also working full time and struggling with childcare/elderly parents/life generally.
I suppose I mean it is rude but might not be "maliciously" so...?

very rude, bugs me big time

i get lots of messages via netmums and often they are wanting to pay silly money/have cats etc (allergic) but i always reply to them politely
