thats bad
even for a mothers thats bad but for a c/m even worst ofsted would not be happpy the parents would not be happy think you should say something phone cis

NannyL · 11/07/2006 10:31

OMG

it makes me SOOOOOOOOOO cross to see any child not strapped in... (or even strapped in but not in a car seat)

BUT for a childminder to do that is shocking...

IMO she should have her child minding license (is there such thing?) removed straight away!

I think there is NO excuse for such negligence...

who the hell does she think she is to risk the lives of her mindees? (not even her own children)

Can / will you be repoting her?

dmo · 11/07/2006 10:37

i'm a childminder and in order for me to take the children in the car parents have to sign consent forms to allow me to do this.
in the consent forms i agree to the parents that the children will use a car seat and that i will make sure that the child is srapped in before the car starts.
for me not to scrap the children in would be breaking the contract

dmo · 11/07/2006 10:38

cis (childrens information services)

NannyL · 11/07/2006 11:11

dmo.... more importantly apart from your contract... its also BREAKING THE LAW .... and risking the childs life

dmo · 11/07/2006 11:13

of course
but as a childminder its also breaking the parents trust
god forbid if anything happened its neg on childminders part

Bozza · 11/07/2006 11:14

You should report her.

dmo · 11/07/2006 11:26

think of the children report her!!!!!!!!!!!
dont just tell her tell somebody higher she should not be a childminder with such a careless attiude

Isyhan · 11/07/2006 11:34

I know but I dont know if they are mindees or her grandchildren or ?? Oh Im not sure what I should do. I only got my certificate two weeks ago and Im trying to build up a reputation myself and get some work Im not sure that reporting another cmder without more details is going to help but what about the children in her car??

OP posts:
NannyL · 11/07/2006 11:37

ok.... put it this way...

if you DONT report her.... shes in a crash, and the children die, how will you feel... (could you live with yoursefl? i couldnt!)

also then that scenario... + you say well i had seen heh driving but didnt report her "for the reason above".... that would make you look very silly.

REPORT her BEFORE the children are killed

dmo · 11/07/2006 11:37

still grandchildren need to have selt belts
dig a little deeper

Isyhan · 11/07/2006 11:50

Yes Ive decided Im going to dig. i see her in the playground so Im going to say 'Oh Hi I saw you yesterday morning. Were you ok because I thought you looked in a hurry and you must have been because the children didnt look to have their seatbelts on'. Maybe she will look embarrassed and never do it again or deny it in which case I will report her. What do you think?

OP posts:
dmo · 11/07/2006 11:53

or you could say hi saw you the other morning were they your grandchildren?
she would say yes or no
you could say only i saw them jumping about with no selt belts on
play dumb its the best way

dmo · 11/07/2006 11:55

just chet like your wanting info on becoming a new childminder
talk about seltbelt laws and consent forms

LoveMyGirls · 11/07/2006 13:36

they could have unstrapped themselves without her knowing? just a possiblity b4 u all crucify the woman.

LoveMyGirls · 11/07/2006 13:37

isyhan - well done for having the courage to talk to her face to face.

NannyL · 11/07/2006 19:13

Love my girls...

just how can they be unstrapped and jumping aroud the back without the driver knowing?

I mean that could be the case IF the children were sitting in there seats normally.... but they wernt...

the law states that children HAVE to wear seatbelts (so they dont die)

IMO ANYONE who drives around with children so blatently not strapped in (and is therefor risking there life) deserves to be "crucified" (as you put it).... and if there was a license to drive children (which tehres not) the children part should be removed...

Cars are essentailly lethal wepons and drivers need to drive them with the respect they deserve!

dmo · 11/07/2006 19:52

sooooooooo
did you talk to her in playground tonight?

Isyhan · 11/07/2006 21:00

no my dh collected dd from school today.

OP posts:
dmo · 11/07/2006 21:19

keep us informed

LoveMyGirls · 12/07/2006 12:30

sorry must have misunderstood, it said tumbling around to be fair so maybe they could have unstrapped themselves and she was just about to stop in a safe place to strap them back in?
dont crucify me too though, i strap my children in and they all have car seats.

im not saying it is right for the kids to be unstrapped if it was done on purpose im just saying you dont know the exact circumstances.

babydales · 12/07/2006 12:52

ALWAYS no matter what make sure you all have your facts right BEFORE reporting a childminder to ofsted for anything,as if it is not true then it has a very serious impact on the childminder and her future. I cannot stress this too highly. Sorry to shout but trust me I have had experience of being reported for something that was a case of mistaken identity and Ofsted are real B**rds. By all means report if you are 100% sure.

Isyhan · 12/07/2006 12:58

Yes thats why im being cautious about it. She has a great reputation so Im thinking it must be something unusual. She did look worried and anxious when I saw her aswell.
