My neighbour is having a conversatory built in the school holidays. The builders will need to come on my property to do work and the boundry fence will be removed. Does anyone know what OFSTED have said about anything like this in the past, are they allowed on my premises whilst I am minding children?

I will be working through the school holidays and there will be days when including my own there will be 5 children in my house/garden

I dont think they will think it is safe and is this classed as an alteration to your property in which case you will have to let them know I think???

ask them to put up temporary fencing

I think you ought to do a risk assessment & see if there is anyway that temporary fencing can be put up, otherwise I am sorry to say the children shouldn't be out in the garden if you have any doubts about their safety. I had a conservatory built last year & still carried on minding but just didn't allow the children into the garden. It help that one of the builders is the dad of two of my mindies. Also I am out most mornings doing activities & the little ones sleep in the afternoons. Mine was done in term time though that helped.

I would stringly advise you to get any agreement with neighbours in writing. If they are building on the boudary then iut is worht checking if a party wall agreement is possible.

Do you have legal advice as part of your house insurance..if so check with them for advice.
