Hi ladies, would love any advice from any childminders out there please...!!!!! Smile

I am awaiting my DBS which should be soon and then pre reg check of my house.

Could I just ask: should I do risk assessments prior to this visit? and what should they include? sorry if this is a stupid q but I have so far, garden steps outside, slippery decking area, use of hot oven...any else??!!

Also what do I need to do re inland revenue? should I register as self emp now? no children lined up yet.

I have first aid, husbands dbs, health dec, references, level 6 (qualified teacher), food hygiene cert, safe house....

Any other tips etc...would be appreciated Smile Smile

I would register as self employed when you start actually working.

I would risk assess the house as they will want to know you understand what you need to be doing and have a daily check/rush assessment ready to go for when you start.

You need to rush assess each room I would say just go and walk round like you were a child looking for dangers, e.g in the bedroom is it safe if a baby got out of a travel cot? Is there a stair gate/do you shut the door, have you got a baby monitor? Fire escape routes etc

Thanks twinkle stars!

Good plan on checking each room at child height..it's all pretty secure as have 18mnth old DS anyway but at least it would show I'm aware of what could happen!!! Will crack on with some today...!!
