I am just looking for some ideas.....

The weather is not so good so arts/crafts/painting, etc.... but what else?

I live in Essex.

Oct half term is always difficult, due to the weather mostly. Aim to go out every day, come whatever the weather brings. Often there is a school project to be done, so a trip to a museum is often part of the week. Lego, jigsaws, baking.

I am working tomorrow and Wednesday, I plan on doing baking, dog walk, swimming, play park, arts and crafts. Museums are always a cheap idea for a rainy day. We aim to go out once a day, even if it is just for a walk.

We'd be having a party on Thursday and so we would be making decorations and putting them up.

I'm a strong believer in fresh air every day come rain or shine so wellies, rain macs and waterproof trousers and out for a walk and splashing in puddles.

Depending on age, cinema treat. Depending on weather, farm/zoo visit. (It's fun to go out for an hour in the rain, it is not fun to be cold and wet all day at the zoo!)

Baking, usually for the party.

Swimming at least once, all my ex-charges love the pool so if I asked what they wanted to do they'll say swimming.

Movie and popcorn at home treat. Sometimes under the duvet!

We'd have a nanny day either out or at one of our work houses.

I love school holidays, just playing with the children and having fun, something that doesn't really happen during term time as there is always something on, rushing to get up, breakfasted and out for school, picking up, after school activities, homework, tea, bath and ready for bed, there is not really any time to do fun things with them. I also like that there is no rush to be somewhere, we can have a cooked breakfast at leisure. I can say yes to them rather than we don't have time, for many things.

All the stay-n-play's (council run play groups) round here have raised the age limit to 8 and have special activities on so we are doing some of that plus a big daytrip, a play date, swimming pool, playing at home...
