working parents... who looks after your kids during holidays?

My dilemma at the moment... I do have a nanny looking after my two lil' monsters. However dd is starting 'big school' in September and putting ds into a day nursery would actually work out cheaper (i.e. I might actually get to keep £50 a month of my salary as opposed it all going into childcare). Question though is, whilst ds would then be catered for in day nursery all through the year, what do I do with dd when she's on school holidays?

what I've been able to deduce there's some activities but nothing that would cover my workday (9-1530)

What are you doing with her before/after school? DS is mainly going to his childminder for the 3 days a week I work but also will put him in the church holiday club (although CM will have to take and collect him) for the week it runs. Also will take a few extra days off here and there. As we are on holiday for 2 weeks that leaves 12 days. Will do the holiday club for the one week and then maybe take odd days off on the other 3 weeks.

And don't forget what do you do with DS when he is sick? And who looks after DD when she is sick? At least nursery doesnt get sick!

MrsBigD · 21/06/2006 15:16

Uwila there is that. Ah decisions decisions...

nanny good because looks after kids when ill, but I'm stuffed if she's ill
nursery good because even if staff off sick still open, but I'm stuffed if kids are ill... argh

Pamina, nannyshare might actually be an idea as there are at least 2 parents with nannies at nursery atm (and therefore also at the school) who have the same combo in children, i.e. one starting school the otherone still not yet in nursery... hmmm, need to devise 'attack plan' and befriend said parents
