Hello I know there is another thread regarding this but i cant find it! Do you charge parents if you are both away at the same time on holiday or not?My contracts state they pay 50% when they are away but nothing if i take holiday. Seen as they are away and i have chosen to take my holiday on those dates for this reason should i still charge??

Reading it the way you have put it I would say no charge, if you state no charge if you are unavailable to care for children ie due to your holiday then just cos you have chosen same week makes no difference, if you had chosen the week after them then you would have been available when they were away and could have charged 50%.
Does this make sense, cos quite hard to explain what I mean,

Normally, I charge half-fee if parents are on holiday. However, if I chose to take the same holiday dates as the parents (which they had booked first), then I suppose that I technically could charge them half-fee but, morally, I don't think that I would.

Thanks for that ThePrisoner, i will have a think about what to do as both sets of parents have booked there holiday first so i will have to make a decision! Any one else got any thoughts? Any mums or dads, what do you think??

When I first started, all 3 mindees were off on the same week. I therefore wasn't working but I still charged as I didn't book leave and couldn't afford to, was lovely to have a week off but that was just lucky iyswim!

I charge 1/2 fees at christmas & easter and don't charge for any other time I am closed except bank holidays.

If a parent booked a holiday and I later decided to go away I would charge full fees. If I didn't know the parents were going to be away when I booked my holiday I wouldn't charge.

definitely charge you are doing them a favour by taking your holiday at the same time as them, they don't have to take time off or arrange childcare later in the year. I personally charge my parents 4 weeks a year 2 their choice 2 mine.

Thanks for your thoughts Childminderjanet. I think i will charge them! After all its only one week!!
