in the area i live that is a big fat no i'm afraid! my mum who is a childminder lives not far from me, and there is a school at the end of my road which when we moved we had hoped to ge tthe children into, we found out we weren't in the catchment area, but applied anyway, stating that we lived on the same road (less than 10 doors away!) that my mum who is a registered childminder will be looking after the children when i go back to work (and she is in the catchment area) and we were told in no uncetain terms that there was def not a space for our children, we now have to walk past the school everyday to take the children to a school that is half an hours walk away, and it still make sme cross!

no, priority is only given to siblings. That would include foster brother and sisters but not mindees!! I don't think it would be fair to give a child a school place based on where their childminder is. That would mean other children not getting places.
Childminding arrangements end all the time, nothing is permanent. Someone could put their child's name down from a childminder's address and withdraw them as soon as they get a school place!

The criteria in Croydon state that child care arrangements are not taken into consideration.

think this is standard and wouldn't be grounds for appeal
tough luck eh?

well i suppose she might get into catholic school she has an appeal date already as it is not in the childs best interest to move school and childminder, together.thanks anyway.
