Childminders - if you put your own postcode into the Ofsted site...

...do you come up as the first number? ie, although Ofsted doesn't give names of childminders, is it possible to detect who is who if you know their psotcode?

Thank you.

I've just tried my postcode and I did come up first. It doesn't show my name but it does have my reference number (which is on the certificates that all childminders are required to have on display for people to see).

HTH :)

ditto

the report mentions things like my guinea pigs and other stuff which makes me reasonably identifiable. Bit scary really.

Isyhan · 16/06/2006 15:05

yes Ive just looked Im not on it yet as just got certificate today but I recognised most of cmders in my area just from descriptions.

Tinker · 16/06/2006 18:20

Bit of a weakness perhaps. But useful to know for me. Thanks.

Oh, and another question - how soon after registration would a cm have an inspection?

Think they like to do within 6 months? but they will want the childminder to have mindees otherwise there's no point. I had mine about 6½ months after my certificate came.

Isyhan · 16/06/2006 21:11

has anone got an outstanding report as all the ones near me are satisfactory or good not outstanding. I want to see what the difference is.

Isyhan · 17/06/2006 09:38

Mmm pretty damn good. I bought the pin boards last night to put up my diversity posters and Im off out to buy some vegetable seeds now! Only joking! However Katymac I will be aspiring to this. Very well done.

decafgirl · 17/06/2006 17:26

Katymac, I don't suppose you're thinking of relocating to Newcastle any time soon are you? Smile

It's not as cold as people make out!

Katymac · 17/06/2006 19:43

possibly not........sorry

babydales · 17/06/2006 22:03

I have an outstanding to. Type in SK5 8AD and mine will pop up.

loulou5 · 18/06/2006 11:57

I've read both ur reports Katymac and babydales.

All i can say is WOW.....they're amazing. i've just had my very first inspection and was sooo nervous. I received a good which i was pleased with as i've only been minding for 2 months, but would have loved to have gotton an outstanding.

I did try so hard, but was basically told that it would be impossible to receive an outstanding on first inspection. Does anyone know why this is.

babydales · 18/06/2006 12:42

I am a support minder and two of my ladies got elements of outsatnding on their first report and goods overall. So now they know which elements they are outstanding at and which ones need more. Another support minder had a lady who got overall outstanding first time round, I think she used to manage a nursery before minding.

franyfroo · 20/06/2006 21:26

blimey. they are brillient. wish i have your motivatn and energy.

looneytune · 21/06/2006 07:40

I got good on first inspection with 2 outstanding elements and although the inspector didn't say it was impossible to get an outstanding at the first inspection, she did say it was very hard. I know that one of our local minders got outstanding on her first inspection, she was one of the first ones to get one when they first came out. The only negative she said there is to this is that you worry in case the next time you do one tiny thing not so good and drop a grade (if that makes sense)

childminderjanet · 21/06/2006 09:42

I got outstanding at my first inspection but I am a qualified nanny with 19yrs experience so that had to help a lot. I suppose it would be very hard for a new mum to get outstanding. I think anyone who gets a good should be very proud of themselves
