How much does after-school childminding cost?

Wondering how much it typically costs for a childminder that would pick up from junior school and look after at our home to 6pm (around 3 hours. 5 days per week). Surrey area.

Do many childminders do care in your own home? (Genuine question)

I would think they would need to be at their home as they will have other children and will need all the health and safety stuff in place.

Our CM charges 4 an hour for after school per child (aged 8 and over) but we are in the south east.

Childminders work in their own homes. I charge £10 from 3.15 until 5.30 and include a light tea. But I am up north.

I pay £5 an hour for school pick up. It would include a meal if needed but it's not, so DS just has a snack.

This is in the SE but it is at the childminder's house and she has other children she looks after at the same time.

CMs don't come to your house, they work from their own homes.

We looked at a childminder as there are no pre/ after-school clubs attached to our primary school. We could get before school care but not after school, and this was about 3 months ago for a child starting school in September.

I just think you might struggle to get a childminder so late on, for a September start. And, as others have said, childminders won't come to your house to care for them - that's a nanny / au pair post.

As others have said a cm works in her own house and is self employed and cost per child per hour could be £4-7

If you want your children to be cared in their own home you need a nanny and they would be employed by you and costing anything from £8-12 gross per hour

Thanks for the replies and straightening out my terminology (nanny rather than CM)!

I pay £6 per hour for my DC after school care with a cm in Surrey. That includes tea.
