I'd like to get my part time nanny A Disclosure Scotland PVG check - can I?

Hello,

I'm about to hire a part time nanny to do school pickup and sole charge after school of my kids.

I've found someone who is experienced and would be a great fit for our family. I would prefer her to have gone through a Disclosure Scotland check, and preferably have PVG membership, and I'd be willing to pay for this (if it's a reasonable cost).

Having looked at the Disclosure Scotland website I'm a bit confused - can I/my nanny request a PVG membership (or even a basic Disclosure) or does it need to be done through an organisation, such as a nanny agency?

Thanks for advice.

Looking at the guidance (see section 1.6, page 18),

72. The Scheme Membership Statement is designed for personal employers asking an individual to do regulated work for them or for pre-emptive use by individuals who intend to do regulated work at some point in the future. As it is for sharing with personal employers, it does not contain vetting information.

73. The Scheme Membership Statement shows basic membership information (common to all three types of disclosure record):
o the type(s) of regulated work in respect of which the individual is a PVG Scheme member (thereby confirming that the individual is not barred from regulated work of that type); and
o if the individual is under consideration for listing for the type(s) of regulated work, states that fact.

74. It also includes the following personal membership information:
o the name, address, date of birth and PVG Scheme membership number of
the individual;
o the unique disclosure record number; and
o the name and address of the personal employer on the personal
employer?s copy.
~~~ End Quote ~~~
You would be a Personal Employer.
How you actually get the PVG application form I have no idea.  The disclosure Scotland site does not let you download it to print out.
You may need to use a nanny agency to process the PVG check, such as <a class="break-all" href="http://www.nanny-agency.net/Enhanced-Disclosures.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Butterfly, Edinburgh</a>.
I would suggest you call or email some nanny agencies in Scotland and ask them about doing the check.
Ideally the new system should have been such that employers could do it themselves but whilst it seems that you can countersign the form as a Personal Employer, you can't seem to get the actual form from anywhere.  I'm not in Scotland so do not know the scheme well... anyone in Scotland able to say how to get the PVG application form?  Is it only via a nanny agency?
Thanks for this. I'd looked at the guidance for various types of disclosure but didn't notice that definition for PVG Statement. So that is what I'd ideally be after.
Anyone have any idea if I can do this myself (or if my nanny can, if she's not employed through an agency)?
