Where is an acceptable place to change nappies??

I have a 6 month old baby boy starting next week.
Is it ok to change his nappy on the floor in the lounge (on a changing mat!) or does it have to be done away from other children?

I look after 3 children under 3 tues, weds and thursday. All 3 children are still in nappies so i change them in the lounge, on a mat. When i have older children here after school i do the same. Done this in front of the OFSTED inspector and she did not say anything. I use antibac wipes on the mat after every change and where gloves for dirty nappies. Hope this helps

I change nappies in the lounge on the floor - I have a dodgy back and, if something suddenly "went" whilst I was changing a nappy, at least the baby would be safe. Ofsted and my network co-ordinator are OK with this, although Ofsted will probably change its mind ...

I do have a much older child with special needs, and I change him in the downstairs cloakroom as he certainly needs his privacy.

safest place is definitely on the floor, on a changing mat because the child cannot roll off and hurt themselves then, unlike someone who used to look after my ds
