Weekly summer holiday budget for AP to entertain kids - how much?

Hi all,

I have been trying to decide on a weekly budget to give our AP to entertain the kids thru the holidays.

How much do you give your AP, as a budget per week? Or do you not and just pay out as and when required? What do other people do????

Thanks xxx

Depends on age of children/ how many/ area/ what you/ they want to do

I would say £50 min if you can afford tbh. But around here it would cost £25 ish just for x2 children and one adult to go to cinema. So would only leave £25 for 4 days. An ice cream = £2.50 etc etc

What would you typical need to spend on a day out with them?

I would allow enough for 2 days going somewhere paid and 3 days free ie playdates/ park/ free museums but the free days will prob incur some money from drinks/ au pair coffee/ ice cream/ buying supplies to make cakes/ crafts etc..

Sorry not very helpful

I would make a weekly plan for her & work out spends based on that plus maybe an extra £10 for incidentals. give her a have a list of activities ie cinema, bowling, park etc and find out which days they have special offers on as during the holidays our cinema does £2 kids screening every Wednesday & adults bowl free Thursday am etc.

why don't you all sit down and draw up a timetable. look what's on around you and take it from there. cost everything up and there's your answer x

I wouldn't be giving an au pair a no strings budget but rather asking her to draw up a fully-costed suggested programme of activities (that can include suggestions from you) for discussion.
