I havent got one. Is this something Ofsted will look for?

I sign visitors in the same register as the children are in.

I've never had one. really no need for it if you don't want one. never been asked to see it by OFSTED

happydazed · 17/06/2013 19:42

ofsted asked to see mine at my inspection last year.

Runoutofideas · 17/06/2013 20:05

They would want to see some sort of evidence that you keep track of adult visitors to your setting when children are present. Doesn't have to be in its own book though.

I just keep an a4 piece of paper in a plastic cover in my hall drawer with columns for date, name, purpose of visit & ID checked with a few lines at the top saying how "I'm a registered childminder & my responsibility as a childcare professional is keeping children in my care safe so please don't be offended if I ask you to leave the room during nappy changes & not use your mobile in sight of the children' . I got Ofsted to read & sign it but day-to-day reality is I don't have random strangers in whilst I'm working so just log visitors myself usually after they've gone.

you dont need a book, but if it helps you demonstrate the requirements to Ofsted then by all means do so. Good luck in your inspection.

I don't have a visitors book and have never been asked by ofsted to produce one. (I've had 4 inspections over the years...)
