Does this kind of childcare exist?

I am just going back to work after a period as a SAHM, so I am a bit clueless about childcare. My dream job has come up and I would like to apply for it, but it involves about 8-10 nights away from home a year. My husband travels frequently, and we have not family around, so I could be really stuck for childcare.

Is there any type of childcare that would do occasional overnight stays, either in my house or theirs. I probably would have quite alot of notice of nights away.

If it does exist, what is it called and how would I find it in my area?

Also, roughly how much might it cost?

Thanks in advance. Smile

Re asking at nursery - ours allowed staff to babysit for nursery clients but I do know friends whose nurseries forbid this. If you don't know the.policy at yours you can either ask management or sound out your preferred staff member I suppose. Def good solution - child taken home from usual childcare and looked after at home by familiar person who also could take than back to nursery in morning.

Word of warning - our nursery doesn't allow nursery staff to take the children home as there is no official handover of care - we've got a friend to do the collection then wait outside for a few minutes and hand the DC over to the nursery worker for babysitting.

Worth checking policy if you are going this route.

Thanks for that.
