Rate of pay rise for live-out nanny in London - any ideas?

I'd like to give our excellent nanny a pay rise after one year with us, but have no idea where to turn to to decide what would be a fair rate of increase. We are not a wealthy family, so there's only so much we can do, but we want to be fair!

If you are a nanny or a parent, I'd appreciate any tips you may have.

We live in central London and our nanny works for us 4 days a week from 8.30am to 6pm.

Thank you!

How much do you pay her now?

Inflation's running at just under 2 per cent - but anything below 3 feels like inflation-only and is not very encouraging. We'll give ours about 8 per cent, I think - but that's partly because she'll only be staying with us for a few more months, not the whole year. With our previous long term nanny we did more like 6 per cent plus immediate lump sum contract-renewal bonus.

i got 3% a few months ago and was well and truley delighted with that! Smile

Oh, don't be bashful CD. That's right out with it, tell us your budget. Just kidding.

Why don't you share with her the same level of raise that you or your DH/DW got this year?

Somewhere between 3% and 5% would probably standard.

Thanks for this. To answer your question, Uwila, I wish I had a pay rise at all where I work!

You've given me a useful range though, so I think we may plump for around 5 or 6% - above the rate of inflation, but below budget-busting 8%!

Thanks.
