I know you are wanting to hear how long it took for newbies but I just wanted to let you know that (unless it's changed) OFSTED are supposed to do within 12 weeks from receiving the application. Although they kept telling me mine would be done by xxx, there was problems (like everyone I know) and it was more like 3 months. I got my cert 1 year ago.

Sure you'll get new ones replying soon :)

Hi,
I registered in Dec 05 and it took 4 weeks from sending forms in to getting my registration certificate but I already had a CRB which can often be the thing that holds it up.

Isyhan · 14/05/2006 17:29

Its great for you it was quick but..That doesnt sound fair. CRB's are meant to be non transferrable. The reason for that is that you could have 'done something' in between your last CRB being checked and commencing your regisration for childminding. I told them that my husband and myself have 6 CRBs between us (hes a teacher and Im a nurse) and they still said we both needed another!

Yeah, I've always been told that too! And yes, it was my CRB that was the final hold up but there were other things Ofsted got wrong like my date of birth etc. They even had ds son as my step-son for some reason - they are crap IMO!

nzshar · 14/05/2006 18:10

My inspector said as long as the CRB is less than 3 threes old then it was fine. Even though we (dp and me) had our CRB checks it took 15 weeks from the time I sent in the forms till i was registered, though there were other complications (they lost my money).

looneytune · 14/05/2006 18:23

Ofsted making up rules as they go along again!!! I know people who have only just had one done and it still needed doing. Also, I was offered a job caring for the elderly before I got my certificate and they also said I could have 100 recent CRB's but they still need one that THEY have requested????

Isyhan · 14/05/2006 20:20

yes. thats exactly what they told me. The thing is how can they get this wrong this is about child protection. So far they have lost my £14 registration fee so Ive had to pay twice so Im not full of optimism that its going to be quick.

i had my ofsted insp on 8th feb and im still waiting for the report! they said it would take around 25 days but its been over 3 months now. they just tell me i'll get it soon every time i ring them. i think i'm going to make a complaint, not that it will make any difference.

LoveMyGirls · 15/05/2006 07:43

i sent off my application in dec 05 and i got my certificate in april 06

Isyhan · 15/05/2006 09:44

yes and the fact that my dd1's bio dad rang the social services out of spite when she was 1 (now almost 7) because i didnt think he was suitable to be around her. so they had to chase that up and be sure there was no follow up (which of course there wasnt because it will all made up bt)
