Have to have one morning off been told that she is taking off full day as they cant just get morning, i am available in the afternoon but they have said that its 2 days off next month pay, rather than day and a half which it should be as i am available. In the contract it is payable if i am available not if i am not.

Advice please they just think i wont get paid because they have taken a day off and want to spent it with their lo.

its awkward i hope someone comes along with something useful to say. i think you have to be tough. i think she could just have half a day but would rather not iykwim and i dont blame her but you should still be paid for the afternoon imo.

I would stick with what your contract says - the morning is childminder's leave but the afternoon is parent's leave and should be paid for regardless of whether they choose to send their child.

Had a similar issue with a parent who only earned a salary on 1/3 of the hours she was paying me for when her ds was off sick; I said I sympathised with their situation as neither I nor dh get paid when we take time off either!

NO. NO. NO.

If they bog off, it's their choice - they still have to pay. Please be tough with them. They can't pick and choose like this.

Jelly - Not sure what she meant about not being allowed morning off - that's rubbish (as you know, i used to work there!) Glad you sorted it though :)
