For a reasonably experienced nanny in London? Applicant has another job as well, so prefer to agree a gross hourly rate.

Thanks!

I would guess £12-£16 gross per hour though it could start lower and some may get more.
Did you advertise any salary? Did the applicant give you any idea of what they wanted to earn?
Have you calculated how much you can afford including all costs you can think to include?

It's £10/net. How many days are they going to be working for you and how many days do they work for the other family
If its 2 days, and they work for the other family 3 days, work out 2/5th of the tax free allowance from this april and work out the gross around that (using mr anchovy's tax calculator).
Then offer that as a gross. The nanny can then decide him/herself if she/he would like to split their tax code.

she is working as a teaching assistant so this will use up her personal allowance - I have said that I will pay her gross. She was getting £10 net in her previous post but the marginal cost to me of meeting that is quite high given she has no personal allowance left.

Work out what £10ph net is on a normal tax code and offer that. I think it's £12.92 ph. You can use MrA's calculator here.
