boss said she'd pay me then changed her mind...

I had bad cold this week and usually work as a nanny over the weekend both sat and sun.
I told my boss that I had a cold but if she was happy for me to come in and work, I would dose up on Lemsip and come in as I need to work.

She said that actually the children had diarrhoea and vomiting so it would be best if I didn't come in. (I said okay and said I'd come on Sunday) she rang me back and said that she understood I was worried about not working as I wouldn't get paid so she would pay me for the weekend but told me not to come on Sunday because she didn't want the children exposed to my cold after they'd been sick.

She said that she would pay me for the weekend as if I'd been in but on the condition that I worked a few hours in the following two weeks ahead, I agreed to this and had the weekend off with her asking if I'd like to have a cheque sent to me in the post to which I agreed.

Today I got home to an email where she said that she has been vomit ting herself which means she was unable to work on sunday meaning she has had to re-think the money and doesn't now want to pay me as "she has not earned any money herself"

I feel like Ive been tricked, all along I said I was happy to work and through no fault of my own I am now left without a weeks wages, my car broke down today and Ive had to use my credit card to have it repaired.

What would you do? Thanks for reading

You were willing to work, she told you not to come - she has to pay you. I think you were very good to agree to make up some hours.

What does your contract say about sick pay? This sounds like an illegal deduction of wages to me as she told you not to come in.

I don't have a contract, I think that they are having a cash flow problem.
I went for a job interview today for another Nanny position and got the job, I'm hoping that my handing in my notice after this doesn't look like a retaliation and that they still give me the good reference that I've spent two years earning.

If you have worked for them for 2 years and you haven't had a contract, something seems a bit dodgy there - have you had payslips, are they paying your tax?

yes theyre paying tax it's all proper, Ive only been sick once in that two years this is the second time
