Mindee arrived for first day with a lolly pop in his hand, had already been sucking. I got rid of it when in the house but what would you have said?

Mindee hadnt had anything to eat as i always ask, so it was the first thing that had been given.

Probably really chuffed with herself for giving him a vegetable.

alison222 · 25/04/2006 12:06

LOL at a hula hoop tree Smile

DominiConnor · 25/04/2006 12:53

Indeed, E numbers can cause reactions, but they are tested, and anything that caused the sort of reaction you get from peanuts for anything other than the smallest % of the population would get banned, no matter how much money their maker gave to the Labour party.

Sorry I really don't want to start a row, but I think if you don't like what the parents give the kids you look after - you should ask them nicely not to bring it whilst you look after them. I would be really really annoyed if someone looking after my kids posted on a web site what I was feeding my children in a quite smug tone, but not ask them about it. I give my children all the food you talk about. So what? I do lots of other good things as well. I think you need to think about what you are saying. Asking for advice is fine but really slagging them is another.

jellyjelly · 25/04/2006 17:14

I did come on for advice because parents can be very sensitive and i want to give the best service i can to them. They do feed good food as well but wanted to nip it in the bud so not to offend in the future.

I asked for help, it wasnt in a smug tone at all but you cant post for long when you are about to start work.

I am sorry that i offended anyone as that was never an intention hence why i posted in the first place.

I am also mentioning to the parents as it is our duty to keep the child, clean safe well fed etc and i dont want my son to want that stuff at 745 each day.

hmmmm I never saw it as slagging off. While i do have slightly different opionions about things than other cm's i can fully appreciate the dilemma we get into trying to get our rules and ways accross to parents while their children are in our care. And actually niceglasses if anyone not only cm's want to come onto a public forum and rant a little about their boss/clients as longs as real names etc are used surely is not a crime.

nzshar · 25/04/2006 17:26

are not used Blush

niceglasses · 25/04/2006 17:28

Not a crime no - so it would be okay if your mindees parents saw it?

I think the post about the hula hoops was out of order.

niceglasses · 25/04/2006 17:29

And I would have said the same thing to non cms if the tone about the food had been the same actually.

nzshar · 25/04/2006 17:33

I would not allow my parents to see threads i did ....if i had parents that i knew were on here then i would find another forum but i can only say what i would do. Ok i must admit the 2 posts after the hula hoops OP were a bit off.

jellyjelly · 25/04/2006 17:40

I also did put a couple of suggestions about what could be said. I was geniunly asking for advice, i like the parent and the child and wouldnt want to cause offence but i needed help and that was that.

jellyjelly - some support - I once posted about a pupil because I was stuck - I wanted the parents POV before I approached the boy's parents. I got a few posters who told me I was the teacher and so I should know what to do and stop whinging about it on a website.

As far as my comments go: I don't know the hula hoop people and if I want to make a one line remark about it on a website then I can. The report button is right there if anyone thinks I went too far.

DC - I see what you mean and it's a good point. I compare the fact that millions of dollars have been spent in NZ to prevent meningitis. They have banned smoking in bars and eateries, and defended their position in court. Yet banning peanuts in all preschool and primary schools, which would cost nothing - not interested.
