Would a childminder look after my kids during the school hols?

I have a looming childcare problem. Both kids (4 and 3) will be at school full time in September. I work 3 days per week. Currently, they go to nursery but they will be too old come September. There is a term-time only breakfast/after-school club but it is full up already and doesn't cater for holidays.

What do other working Mums do? It seems that priority goes to full timers (understandably) but that is not very helpful to me!

Some childminders will have spaces if they look after teachers children

I don't work school holidays cos DH is a teacher and I only chose children from the families at his school {and we go to sussex in holidays so not here anyway}

You just need to find one that matches your family

Good luck Smile

there are a few cms I know that will do holiday and after school hours. especially ones who take teachers children during term time. you need to phone every cm that does the school run to your school and see what they'll offer. it'll take time but you'll find someone.

maybe say where you are as there are childminders on here and they may be able to help you out.good luck

You'll be especially in luck if there is a Uni near you, if there is (or an FE college that does adult ed) try the nearest childminders first as a tip... students often book term time. HTH.

I am a childminder and I look after 2 children holiday time only cos I have 2 term time only children too.
As others have said, ring round and ask.

ThePrisoner · 20/04/2006 23:12

I've always been happy to have children come just for school holidays, and know several minders who will also do this.

I am childminder and signed a contract with a Mum yesterday just for 2 days school holiday care.
I think you'll fine most childminders are flexible and willing to offer care to suit your needs.

i have always got spaces during holidays as i have a couple of term time only mindees. where r u?

alison222 · 21/04/2006 18:10

I too only look after teachers chldren at the moment as it suits me. It is quite common I think to have space in the holidays for this reason if you look after the child of a teacher

pol25 · 21/04/2006 18:17

Where are you?!
I'm looking for someone part time during term time and full time during holidays. I think there are prob some childminders out there who would jump at the chance.
