Au pair - vegetarian?

Do those of you with experience of hiring an au pair think our chances
and choice with be greatly reduced due to the fact we have a non meat house.
We do eat fish so not really vegetarian.

Guess depends if you mind your au pair having meat in your house - in your fridge and cook it for herself / if a meat eater

If you are not happy with this then may be harder to find an au pair who is a vegetarian

I know many nannies but only 3 who are vegetarian but all happily prepare meat for their charges

One actually after being a veggie for years now eats meat herself

Wouldn't have bothered me but you need one who isn't a picky eater. Veggie APs often find it hard to find placements, though, so for some it'll be a plus!

Unable to have meat in house as dh vegan, doesn't mind fish though so much. Maybe I could add to contract a meat meal out now and then! Thanks for support once again.

Hi,
We are veggies and that was never an issue with our au pairs. I really wouldn't worry about it too much. Just make sure it is clear in your advert and you also reiterate it when interviewing.

you could also say if they want to eat meat outside the house (when they go to cafes, etc) its ok. my family is veggie and its how I was raised, but my parents always made it clear if we wanted to eat meat, we could- so long as we didn't bring meat into the house it was ok.

we are vegetarians and our aupairs always adapted to that without any issues. I am sure they still ate meat when they were out with friends, but it didn't seem to bother them that meat was not allowed in the house.

Having said that, I always made it very clear in our advert, as in "vegetarian family looking for AP..."

Good idea with the ready meal, I certainly wouldn't mind, see what dh thinks, (we're talking vegan!.)
I too say to the dc's if they choose to eat meat they can...outside the house.

I also think you should make it very clear that meat is not allowed in the house at all, and put that in your house rules.

To many, no difference. I am happy my vegan dh bends his own rules for me, I love fish. However meat, I too dislike and could not stand the smell of it cooking in the house.
