I have recently started work with a family. They have 2 girls 6 and 1.
The mum has recently needed to change my work hours and increase them slighty. I have 3 children of my own, whom i also care for. (2 full time school, 1 part time pre school)
The bit i struggled with is mum finishes work at 5 and i have sometimes started cooking their tea depending on what they are having, they all eat togther when mum home. i then go home and try to sort school bags, uniform, cook and feed my 3 kids, bath and bed by 7. This is the bit i find hard.
Now with her new hours she has suggested i work till 6 ( i am no longer having the 6 year old)
.She has suggested that 1 day i feed my kids at hers with her 1 year old and then the other day i take the 1 year old back to mine and tea them all there. She would be in my house around 2 hours a week.
We would sort out the finances regarding the food i am not worried about this.
But i just wondered if this was allowed for a nanny as i believed i could not care for the child in my own home (as a childminder does).
Any ideas where to look to clear this up as google is bringing up mixed answers.

Yes, you are right that it's the bit where you take the 1 year old to your house which muddies the situation.

Does your nanny insurance cover you AT ALL for caring for children at your own home? That may be a factor to take into account.

If you exceed 2 hours between 2am and 6pm caring for the 1 year old at your home, then you would breach Childcare Act 2006 in my view (I am assuming you are in England). Would anyone find out and report you, probably not but depends how nosey your neighbours are.

Why couldn't you do both days at hers? Is she concerned about the amount of food your children would be eating perhaps - if so, perhaps you would provide the food.

Hi Nick.
No it is not the food issue, just my general life with 3 small children and trying to make it easier as such.
Ok will look into the insurance side of it.
But under 2 hours will be ok from what i can see.
That we can arrange i think.
Many thanks.
