I didn't increase my fees for 2 years. Do you think I can do it now ? With a month notice ?

I'm a cm and I didn't increase my prices since january 2010. Am I justified to do it soon ?

Of course it is justified. Give the required notice as defined in your contrac, in writing as each child is picked up.

I think a month might be a bit short notice, but you will know if your families are likely to be ok with that.

I was thinking for beginning of february actually.

I have done exactly the same, sent out a newsletter to parents last week to inform them I can no longer freeze my rates, I also last put them up in 2010, and am putting them up from the 1st February.

It does state in my contract to give 4 weeks notice so I have given them all plenty of time.

I tend to just charge new rates for new customers and let the existing ones carry on as they are, though I do warn them that they will have to pay the current rates if they want to change their contracts.

I did however once say I was putting up charges in the hope that one family would give notice, and they did!
