Nanny food bills

Hi, another silly question from a FTM with first nanny.

I thought that I'd do the big shopping and the nanny would eat what's there. Obviously I ask her whether she has special wishes.

Now she says she wants to do her own food shopping (she only eats organic and health food, ££) and I should give her £30 every week on top of her weekly pay so she can buy her special food.

Is this normal?

After thinking about it £30 a week is tons! That's how much OH and I spend on a weekly shop and that includes all 7 meals, toiletries, dog food (most expensive bit the sensitive-stomached sod), cleaning products etc.

Tell her to feck off.

30GBP a week? How do you do it?

NotAChocolateRaisin · 25/10/2012 22:15

An ingenious combination of Makro for meat, coupons, only buying sale brands, buying large quantities and freezing and just generally being really tight Grin

Cleaning products obviously don't need to be bought very often. Ditto toiletries and the "reduced aisle" at Morrissons mean we eat like kings for pennies! (the joys of a freezer) helps if you can shop on a weekday morning for this

I didn't say it was easy to feed two four £30. But doable!

Basically three with the dog :D My employers and I are trying to reduce our shopping bill at the moment, we spend around 200 GBP a week for three adults and one toddler. Far too much!

NotAChocolateRaisin · 25/10/2012 22:23

YOU SPEND WHAT?!?!

fraktion · 26/10/2012 11:41

Ours is around 150? for 2 adults and a toddler. Bit we eat a lot of cheese Blush and I buy organic veg at the market and we have fresh vread every day which is easily 10?/week. It used to be double that where we lived before....

I will, however, be raiding Lidl as soon as our car arrives and cutting costs that way.

MissNJE · 26/10/2012 21:10

I don't spend it - but my employers. We order from Ocado and my employer (Mother) only buys organic fruit and vegetables, meat and fish from the butcher, free range chicken and eggs etc. Add a few bottles of wine, nappies, wipes etc. and it adds up to 200 quid a week.

NotAChocolateRaisin · 26/10/2012 21:36

My employers spend that too. Or I do on their behalf (I do the orders) this week came to £220. For 2 adults, 6 year old and baby.

So yeah... But it could easily be much less. It's organic that does it! X

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/10/2012 21:40

when i did my employers shopping was £150/200 a week depending if nappies/wipes/washing powder

not organic fruit/meat but 2 adults (3 if include me) and 3 kids - woofa was separate - he can eat £200 eachday by his self if left near meat or cheese Grin

NotAChocolateRaisin · 26/10/2012 21:51

I'm pretty sure I could knock back £200 of cheese!

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/10/2012 22:01

woofa would fight you for it, he devoured 500g in a matter of seconds once

stupidly left block on side and went to answer phone/door etc and whosh it had disapeered [hgrin]

NotAChocolateRaisin · 26/10/2012 22:34

Good god. Thatust have had a messy eventuality!

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/10/2012 15:44
