After spending hours and hours updating my risk assessments for the EYFS I have now renamed them 'Risk Arsements'---says it all really LOL!!!

I hope you managed to throw out a few as the new EYFS only requires you to "determine where it is helpful to make some written risk assessments in relation to specific issues", and for outings says that "The risk assessment does not necessarily need to be in writing; this is for providers to judge."

It also states (p25) 'must have a clear and well-understood policy and procedures for assessing any risks to children's safety and review risk assessments regularly'
So each can interpret as we wish (as we will do with the rest of EYFS) but I feel anything written down means less explaining to the inspector if she asks...which save time and money especially when Ofsted have complained our inspections are expensive

If you have a risk assessment already..update it and put under Safety (Welfare requirements) ...job done

Would you want to ask for a risk assessment policy any public place you go and expect people to recite it from memory??? Food for thought !!

I have kept mine in writing, so it will keep the inspector quiet for a few minutes while she reads it. I know not all CMs in my area have chosen to do this though.

I don't spend hours and hours on it though and I have never done loads, only fairly generic ones.
