I am a cm with some general questions (still waiting for Ofsted visit)

I have a older child (at senior school) who comes to me before and after school. He is sometimes allowed to go to his friends instead of coming to me. Would you ask his parents to give written permission for him to do so? I am aware that for legal reasons this may need to be done.

Regarding the observations, do you keep all these together or do you slot them in with learning journeys done at the same time as the observations?

May have some more questions as doing paper work.

Thanks

If he's going to friends and not coming to you, then the patents should book it as holiday/ a day off/ whatever, so he's their responsibility not yours.

I keep all my obs in with my learning journeys.

I link my observations to my planning - making it clear that some activities are specifically planned in response to observations. So yes, my observations go in the learning journey file.

Not sure about the permission slip for the friend - someone else may know.

This is the situation at present. Older mindee is scedule to come to me after school. On more than one occasion he has been allowed by mum to go to his friends instead. I am usually informed.

Do I need to get this in writing as it become quite regular? if so what would you put in the letter?

Your advice would be appreciated.

Regarding older child.... going to friends ... it matter's not...your only responsible for them if they're with you...

HSMM · 16/09/2012 14:34

I still think that as long as the parents book him a day off, then it's the same as if he goes on holiday for a week - not your responsibility.
